New electrics and new diesels. In March German rail freight operator Rheincargo signed a contract with Vossloh Locomotives from Kiel for another two DE18 mid-cab diesel locomotives.
The two additions will arrive in October 2019. Rheincargo already has six locomotives of the same type in its fleet (DE501-505 and 1 hired) – with a total of eight Rheincargo will have the largest fleet of DE18s in Germany.
With more DE18s, with 1.8MW power rating, Rheincargo will be able to pull longer/heavier freight freight trains in and around Cologne, Neuss and the Ruhr area.
