As of December 2016, the first three of six Alvra loco-hauled trains are in revenue service. Swiss narrow gauge railway company Rhätische Bahn is using them on the very popular, very touristic and above all, very photogenic Albula line from Chur to St. Moritz. And you know what’s cool? One of the coaches has a special compartment for photographers, with large windows panoramic windows that can open. When will you book your next trip to Switzerland?
Stadler Rail is currently delivering six rakes of six coaches to Rhätische Bahn. Each ‘Alvra’ train will get an additional driving trailer (type Ait 578) in 2017. Rhätische Bahn published a video about the design and development of the Alvra on its website.
