Stadler Rail has lost its case. The Swiss manufacturer filed an appeal against the Austrian railways (ÖBB) awarding a framework contract for up to 300 trainsets to Bombardier (150x short version = 75 meter and 150x long version = 100 meter). Today, Austrian court rejected the appeal, meaning that Bombardier will be building the next generation of regional trains for Austria.
The ÖBB has placed a first order under the new contract for 21 sets (long version). Their delivery will commence in 2019 and they will be assigned to the Vorarlberg region.
