As of today, the Siemens Vectron has been ordered by exactly 40 different customers. Rath Group is the newest customer for Siemens’ multi purpose locomotive platform.
Siemens will deliver a total of three Vectron multi system (MS) locomotives to the Rath Group. Operated by Rath Group’s own freight transport firm, RTB Cargo, the locomotives will be the first multi system fleet of the German operator and are intended for cross-border operation in Austria, the Czech Republic, Germany, Hungary, the Netherlands, Poland and Slovakia.
“The Rath Group is the fortieth customer for our Vectron platform. This success story underscores the quality and reliable service of our locomotives throughout Europe,” Sabrina Soussan, CEO of Siemens Mobility.
Rath Group has opted for the ‘high power’ (6.4 MW) freight configuration of the MS Vectron, which has a top speed of 160 km/h and allows operation on 15 kV / 16.7 Hz, 25 kV / 50 Hz AC and 1.5 kV DC and 3 kV DC voltages. All Vectrons will be equipped with the corresponding national train control systems, as well as the European Train Control System (ETCS).
Delivery will start in December 2018.
