On 29.03.2024, experts from the Vienna University of Technology (TU) presented the core results of their evaluation of the decarbonisation of the Zillertalbahn. The main conclusion is that battery technology has the most significant potential. According to TU Wien, the hydrogen concept pursued since 2018 was correct but has now been overtaken by the battery option.
