On 26.07.2019 the Board of Directors of SNCF Mobilités approved an additional firm order for 12 TGV Océane high-speed trains for an amount of EUR 335 million. SNCF states that the extra investment is needed to cope with strong ridership growth in France. Plus, the company will be better equipped as it will soon be facing new competition on France’s high speed lines.
As of 2021, the new trains will enter service on the routes Paris – Rennes, Paris – Nantes, and Paris – Metz / Nancy. The trains will supplement existing orders for TGV Océane trains (under delivery until 2020), and they will arrive before the first of 100 new Avelia Horizon HSTs (scheduled for 2023).
Each set will have a maximum capacity of 556 – remarkable: it will be possible to rotate your seat in first class, so you will always face the direction of movement. The trains will, logically, will be equipped with all modern features you may expect: Wifi, power sockets, USB connectors, reading lights, for example.
