Today Siemens Mobility announced a new framework agreement for the delivery of 100 Vectron MS locomotives to DB Cargo. The contract was signed last month. At these same time, a second order for another 40 machines was placed.
DB Cargo has decided to further expand its Vectron fleet with more multi-system locomotives for cross border operation. DB’s freight division will start receiving the first of these 40 locomotives next month (!). The delivery will be concluded in June next year. According to Siemens, the machines will be configured for cross-border use across several European countries. It is yet to be seen, which ones exactly.
“The Vectron MS is a particularly energy-efficient locomotive that enables cross-border transport without changing locomotives. With it, DB Cargo can provide even better service for its customers on European routes,” – Steffen Bobsien, Head of European Assets & Technology of DB Cargo
