In 2017, the Bayerische Eisenbahngesellschaft (BEG) awarded the ‘Dieselnetz Ulm’ contract to DB Regio. The operator will own the concession for the period December 2020 – December 2032. ‘Dieselnetz Ulm’ comprises of the following lines:
- Ulm – Memmingen (– Buxheim) > new Alstom Coradia Lint DMUs
- Ulm – Weißenhorn > new Alstom Coradia Lint DMUs
- (Ulm –) Günzburg – Mindelheim > refurbished RegioShuttle diesel cars
Now the final contract between DB Regio and Alstom is signed for the delivery of the 20 new Coradia Lint diesel trains. 15 will be available in the Autumn of 2020 – 5 more will arrive two years later. There will be two types, both with a top speed of 140 km/h:
- 12x Coradia Lint 41 – 2-car with 3 bogies – 125 seats
- 8x Coradia Lint 54 – 2-car with 4 bogies – 150 seats
