Austrian public transport operator Stern & Hafferl has bought a Vectron diesel locomotive; the designated 247 905 previoulsy used by Siemens for tests and presentation. Stern & Hafferl’s freight fleet now comprises of 7 locomotives.
Last week Austrian rail operator Stern & Hafferl received a new diesel locomotive; 247 905. The contract with Siemens AG Österreich was signed during the Autumn. The Siemens Vectron DE for Stern & Hafferl is the first locomotive of its type operated in Austria. The locomotive has a power output of 2.4 MW and a top speed of 160 km/h.
Stern & Hafferl’s Vectron is equipped with the Trainguard Basic train control system and will be used in cross-border traffic between Austria and Germany, especially in the Oberösterreich area to Aschach an der Donau.[amazon_link asins=’3613714132,B003SFW51Q,B00622G4CS,B00EANYT8C’ template=’ProductCarousel’ store=’railcolorziem-21′ marketplace=’DE’ link_id=’6a1e015e-d903-11e7-9b98-bb664e078d50′]
Stern & Hafferl already has Siemens diesel locomotives in its fleet. Between 2008 and 2011 four EuroRunner locos were delivered, numbered as 2016 910-913. The operator also decided to acquire a TRAXX locomotive with shunting diesel recently.

- 247 901: Siemens’ test center in Wegberg-Wildenrath (PCW)
- 247 902-904 and 906: Property of Siemens, hired to DB Cargo Deutschland
- 247 905: Stern & Hafferl
- 247 907: InfraLeuna no. 251
- 247 908: RDC Autozug Sylt
- 247 909: to be built, for RDC Autozug Sylt
