At last September’s InnoTrans, it was announced that the newly established leasing company Green Mobility Partners (GMP) would be ordering Vectron locomotives. Siemens responded swiftly—just a few months later, the first two units are already in operation for their new lessees.
Express delivery
Siemens Mobility and the Austrian-based Green Mobility Partners signed a framework agreement at InnoTrans for the supply of up to 50 Vectron locomotives. Alongside this, a firm order was placed for the first eight multi-system locomotives, capable of reaching speeds of up to 200 km/h. The deal includes an accelerated delivery schedule, and GMP took delivery of the first two locomotives at the end of March 2025—these machines entered service earlier this week.
- An interesting side note: GMP was founded by Christoph Katzensteiner, the former CEO of European Locomotive Leasing Group (ELL). This background ensures a strong relationship with Siemens and a deep understanding of the rail leasing market.

First customers are from the Czech Republic
The company has decided to register the locomotives in the country where it has its headquarters, i.e. Austria. The GMP Vectrons have number consequitive to ÖBB’s Vectron fleet (which goes up to 1293 200). GMP 1293 201 and 202 were transported from Munich to the Austrian Czech border on Tuesday, 1 April 2025, from where they proceeded to the Vršovice depot in Prague, where they were officially handed over to their first lessees. They are CT Train and IDS Cargo, and 1293 201 will not be the only Vectron to be taken over from GMP by this company providing short and long-term locomotive leases.

Design of GMP Vectron
While locomotive 1293 202 was wrapped in IDS Cargo’s design, 1293 201 received its owner’s corporate livery. This is dominated by a blue and green background complemented by mountain peaks and a flying eagle, accompanied by the company logo and the motto “powerful. efficient. fast”, referring to the locomotive’s characteristics. At the same time, the locomotive has a white background where an additional lessee’s logo can be placed.
