For many years, edited photos of Vectron locomotives in the colours of the Hungarian railway company MÁV have been circulating. This is because, years ago, MÁV wanted to order these locomotives-the plans were officially announced in Hungarian media. However, after the order became part of a political/trade dispute on European level, the order could not be carried out, leading MÁV to search for alternative locomotives.

As a result, we’ve already seen Akiem ES64U2 locomotives in MÁV colours, TMe diesel locos from Nordic Re-finance in two-tone blue and, just last week, the first Astride locomotive started operating for MÁV.

In January 2025, the first signs were there that MÁV had reached a leasing deal with ELL for rental locomotives—and ELL only has Vectrons…
On February 6, 2025, the deal was officially announced:

At that moment, the first ELL Vectrons had already reached Budapest, and 193 214 was given MÁV stickers. On January 31, 2025, the first photos were taken:

Several days later, it was put into service, but not before ‘193 214’ returned to the nose:

- locomotive 1: ELL 193 214 = Vectron MS A01
- locomotive 2: ELL 193 230 = Vectron AC B02
- locomotive 3: ELL 193 227 = Vectron MS A01
- locomotive 4: ELL 193 210 = Vectron AC B02
- …
