In 2023, two large companies merged in the Polish market: Lotos Kolej became part of the petrochemical group Orlen (which also had its own railfreight operator, Orlen KolTrans). A year later, the merged company was renamed Orlen Kolej. Now, the company announced a tender for rebranding locomotives with Lotos logos.
