MÁV keeps looking for alternative ways to modernise its ageing electric and diesel locomotive fleets. In the long term, the carrier plans to purchase new electric locomotives, but until then, it needs to find another solution. After leasing EuroSprinter locomotives from Akiem, it is testing other locomotives available in the market.
