[passenger] Metra wants European-style BEMUs for Chicago [updated]

In October 2023, Chicago’s commuter rail operator, Metra, was awarded a USD 169.3 million grant to purchase battery-powered trainsets. This a small revolution for the operator as Metra only uses loco-hauled double-deck passenger trains. Now the operator announces it has selected Stadler as supplier of the BMUs:
