It’s the final countdown: TX Logistik, the Association of German Transport Companies (VDV), the German Association of Materials Management, Purchasing and Logistics (BME) and Die Güterbahnen presented a specially branded locomotive in Duisburg on 13.12.2023:
The design, all in black with green lettering, is based on a digital clock with a fixed date of 1 January 2030, 00:00 and one minute. The message: there is still time until then to take appropriate measures to shift significantly more goods to climate-friendly rail transport and achieve the climate protection targets in the transport sector on time.
“Another global climate conference ended this week, showing us once again that we need to do more worldwide and together to stop climate change. The leading industrialised and economic nations, in particular, must take swift and consistent action. Germany still has much catching up to do in reducing emissions, particularly in the transport sector. Strengthening climate-friendly rail freight transport is a key element in achieving the desired goals,” says VDV Managing Director Dr Martin Henke.
