Instead of buying new trains, BLS modernises its older car trains in its Bönigen workshop. The project’s centrepiece is the conversion of decommissioned S-Bahn carriages into new driving trailers for car transport on the Lötschberg and Simplon. The ageing loading wagons will also be brought up to the latest standards.
