In 2020 and 2021, Ferrovie Nord Milano (FNM) and Alstom decided to develop a hydrogen train with fuel cells (FCEMU). The new trains are part of the H2iseO project (a word pun that mixes H2O and the name of the city of Iseo), which will be officially unveiled during the next Expo Ferroviaria in Milan, to be held from 3 to 5 October 2023.
