Verkehrsverbund Berlin-Brandenburg (VBB), on behalf of the states of Berlin, Brandenburg, Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania and Saxony-Anhalt, awarded the regional north-south network to DB Regio Ost. As a result, new as well as modernised trains will start operating from 2026.
