The Schwarzwaldbahn (Black Forest Railway) is a scenic railway in southwest Germany that connects the Rhine Valley with Lake Constance via a technically challenging route. There is an open-ended transport contract with DB Regio for the RE Karlsruhe-Constance. The state has decided to waive the option to terminate the contract at the end of 2026.
