- [AT] Back in 2018, following a tender procedure, ÖBB Personenverkehr hired 4 Desiro DMUs from DB. Now, the Austrian operator has issued a modification which includes the rental of two additional trainsets, including maintenance for a period of up to 4 months.
- [AT] ÖBB is also launching a periodic indicative notice for the purchase or lease of EMUs OR (single) passenger coaches. The vehicles are to be operated in Austria and its border stations (Germany is optional) and need to be suitable for alpine winter operations with a high proportion of tunnels. Top speed is 160 km/h (200 km/h is optional). The total capacity of the vehicles should be ±2000 seats, distributed in a minimum of 25 passenger cars OR a minimum of 4 EMUs (15 kV 16.67 Hz / PZB / ETCS) with a max length of 150 m. The vehicles are needed for immediate inclusion into revenue service and the contract notice is expected to be published on 15.07.2021.
- [AT] Third one from ÖBB and Railcolor News already reported in detail on it. The operator is looking for up to 270 EMUs with an approx length of 105 m and a top speed of 160 km/h. The deadline for participation is 11.06.2021.
- [CZ] Správa železnic, or the national railway infrastructure manager in the Czech Republic, is looking to acquire 6 specialized vehicles for inspection, maintenance, and repair of overhead lines.
- [DE] Hessische Landesbahn GmbH (HLB) has issued a tender for the manufacture and delivery of 15 – 25 electric multiple units for use in transport services on the “Main-Weser” regional rail network, starting with the 2024/2025 timetable change. The company expects a total of 3 candidates to take part in the process.
- [DE] DB Regio AG will be repainting its S-Bahn Stuttgart series BR 423 and BR 430 in the new design. A tender has been issued and the winning entity is Talbot Services GmbH. All vehicles must be repainted by mid-2027 at the latest, whereby no vehicles can be provided in 2024. In 2021, up to 6 vehicles, BR 423 are to be repainted. Up to 4 vehicles can be provided at the same time for series repainting from 2022. Read more about the project in our dedicated article.
- [DE] S-Bahn München has also issued a tender for paint job activities on its ET 423 fleet. A maximum of 24 boarding areas per multiple units will be affected. Corrosion treatment, 6 car body end walls, and interior components are included as well.
- [ES] As announced recently, Renfe is discontinuing (and soon relaunching) its Cercanías and Medium distance BMU tenders.
- [FR] SNCF Réseau has launched a tender for the delivery of 1) 50 Medium Power (±1000 kW) diesel, single-cab locomotives with a maximum axle load of 20 t and a top speed of at least 100 km/h and 2) 10 High Power (±2000 kW) locomotives of the same type and an axle load of 22 t. A maximum annual financial disbursement limited to EUR 12 million per year for the Medium Power locomotives and EUR 4 million for the High Power ones. The contract is set to start on 01.01.2022 and end on 31.12.2026.
- [HU] GySEV has modified and extended the deadline for its tender for IC passenger cars from 27.05 to 05.07.2021.
- [IT] Italy’s Ministry of Infrastructure and Sustainable Mobility has issued a tender for the supply, commissioning, and full-service maintenance of a total of 15 diesel-electric multiple trainsets for the Ferrovia circumetnea (FCE) narrow gauge. The estimated value of the contract is EUR 113.7 million. Previously, FCE had been ordering Vulcano trains from Newag.
- [PL] PKP IC has launched an important tender for the delivery of 63 (+ 32 optional) MS locomotives with a top speed of at least 200 km/h, including maintenance. The contracting authority has informed of the following schedule for the tender: submission of requests to participate by 01.07.2021, examination of the requests and invitation to participate in July / dialogue with contractors, and an invitation to tender August-October 2021 / Submission of tenders November-December 2021 / Awarding in February 2022.
- [PL] Szybka Kolej Miejska (SKM) is procuring a single, newly-manufactured EMU, with the option of 9 trainsets. Modernization equipment for the rolling stock maintenance facilities is included.
- [UK] Network Rail Infrastructure Ltd is procuring an electric-powered shunting locomotive with an 800 t hauling capacity for the Holgate Works. The new locomotive will be replacing the existing equipment, allowing to transfer complete wagon sets from the yard to the workshop.
