Today, Alstom officially announced it will be delivering 8 Coradia Lint trainsets to Ostdeutsche Eisenbahn GmbH (ODEG). Railcolor News already informed its Expert subscribers about the upcoming order in January.
Valued at EUR 45 million approximately, the new trainsets are expected to be delivered in the second half of 2022. Operation on the Netz-Elbe-Spree is scheduled to begin with the timetable change in December that same year. Production will take place at Alstom’s site in Salzgitter, Lower Saxony (DE).

Curious fact: According to Alstom, these trains will be the world’s first diesel multiple-units (DMUs) with a Stage 5 powerpack:
“Parallel to the development of new emission-free technologies, we at Alstom are also consistently developing the proven diesel technology in an environmentally friendly manner. The Coradia Lint regional trains for ODEG comply with the EU Stage 5 emissions standard. This makes them the most environmentally friendly diesel trains in the world,” – Jörg Nikutta, Managing Director of Alstom in Germany and Austria
Curious fact 2: The three engines can be switched off individually with the help of a newly introduced engine management system for ecological and economic reasons.
