[DE] Up to 25 Smartron locomotives for Paribus – TX Logistik is first customer

TX Logistik today released the news that it has closed a contract with Northrail for the lease of three Siemens Smartron locomotives. These machines are part of a framework purchase agreement for up to 25 Smartron locomotives signed by Paribus Holding in December 2018. Paribus holds the majority of the shares of Northrail.

This makes TX Logistik the first customer for Northrail’s future Smartron fleet. The rail freight operator will use the new machines all accross its German freight network. Delivery of the three machines is scheduled for Q4 2019.

Dr. Ing. Volker Simmering, Managing Partner of northrail and Managing Director of Paribus: “We are very pleased that TX Logistik has become the first hire customer for this reliable and proven technology-based locomotive type.”

About the Paribus framework contract

The investment was arranged and structured by Paribus Holding GmbH & Co. KG for the Paris-based private equity investment company RIVE Private Investment. Northrail will be responsible for the asset management for all locomotives to be delivered. The maintenance of the locomotives will be based on Siemens’ Railcover service concept.

Northrail currently manages a portfolio of around 130 locomotives and 90 passenger trains.
