Last year, CRRC delivered the first Co-Co modern electric locomotive to Serbia. In this article Timothée Roux pays a visit to its new home: the industrial railroad, which connects the Nikola Tesla thermal power plant with the Kolubara coal mine. You may expect a few classic locomotives along the way as well.
Series 463 by CRRC
In 2016 Elektroprivreda Srbije (EPS / Electric Power Industry of Serbia) ordered 2 new electric locomotives from Chinese CRRC. Termoelektrane Nikola Tesla received its first modern electric, the designated 463 001, in June of last year. This six-axle, 7 MW, TSI-compliant locomotive, capable of reaching 140 km/h, is now being operated in a pool together with the Classic 441 series that have been working on the industrial railroad for many years.
