As of 01.12.2016, DB Cargo Italia is operating new Vectron locomotives for its domestic freight services. UniCredit leasing and DB Cargo decided to team up in 2015 to expand the fleet of DB Cargo with eight Siemens Vectron DC locomotives.
On 14.09.2016, the first two units, the designated 191 013 and 014, were transferred to Novara depot. The 013 had the honor to pull the first commercial train on 01.12.2016, being the EUC 45714 Monfalcone – Brescia Scalo.
These locomotives are part of Siemens’ Vectron product family. They represent the DC version for direct current, 3kV DC. They have a top speed of 160 km/u and a duration power of 5.2 MW.
