Today, Alstom revealed the first Pendolino vehicle for Italian high speed open access operator ntv. These high speed trains are being designed and manufactured by Alstom in Savigliano (IT).
We see the first driving coach of a 7-car train with a new front design. Alstom calls this design a Pendolino of the fourth generation. Alstom will deliver twelve such sets (8+4) to ntv. The contract was signed only a year ago, so the development and construction of this first car has been done in a relatively short period.
With the twelve new trains ntv will be able to expand its fleet to 37 sets, next to the existing 25 AGV trainsets also built by Alstom. The Pendolino will enter revenue earning service in December 2017 – March 2018.
