For an amount of EUR 160 million, Alstom will supply thirty trains of the type Coradia Continental to the Hessische Landesbahn (HLB). By the end of 2018, these must be operational on the Südhessen-Untermain network, connecting the cities of Wiesbaden, Mainz, Darmstadt, Frankfurt and Aschaffenburg.
The maximum speed of the 3-car (13x) or 4-car (17x) trains will be 160 km/h. They’ll have a capacity of 35o/450 people and there are four/five multipurpose spaces onboard, to be used for wheelchairs and bicycles. The trains will be equipped with wireless internet, power outlets and real-time passenger information.
