This morning, the very first official FlixTrain service has started. Around 8.30 the first train, in a new green FlixTrain design, left Hamburg with destination Köln. The low-cost train service also halts at Osnabrück, Münster, Gelsenkirchen, Essen, Duisburg and Düsseldorf.
FlixMobility has decided to enter the railway market to complement its long-haul bus network (FlixBus). Until last year the route mentioned above was served by the ‘hkx’ or Hamburg-Köln-Express.
The train show in the title image is the first rake in full FlixTrain design. It is MRCE locomotive ES 64 U2-005 and passenger coaches property of BahnTouristikExpress (BTE). The coaches previously had the red-blue BTE livery or where light-grey with red (former DB Autozug design).
