In 2008 a Polish company named ZNLE Gliwice announced its plans for developing a new locomotive for (initially) the domestic market. Under project name E6ACT ‘Dragon’ the company built a new six-axle freight locomotive with a 5 MW power rating and a top speed of 120 kph, designed for heavy freight trains with weight up to 3200 tons, typical for transportation of aggregate, coal, sand, and steel.
