On 26.11.2024, the Lombardy Region approved a resolution authorizing Ferrovie Nord Milano to exercise the option for an additional eight hydrogen-powered trains for the Brescia-Edolo line, part of the “H2IseO” project. This brings the total planned fleet to 14 trains.
New tests starting
On 03.01.2025 HMU 214 n.003 was transferred from Savigliano to the Bologna San Donato circuit for testing, hauled by Captrain Italia’s 494 505. This train is the same one unveiled in 2023 at the Expo Ferroviaria in Milan. The other two existing trainsets are HMU 214 n.002 which is currently in Germany for testing and HMU 214 n.001 which is still at Alstom in Savigliano awaiting completion.
