[design] The first ELP Eurodual for Verkehrsbetriebe Peine-Salzgitter

On 14.02.2024, European Loc Pool (ELP) announced a new leasing agreement with Verkehrsbetriebe Peine-Salzgitter (VPS). It covered the lease of two EuroDual locomotives, marking a significant step for VPS towards increasing efficiency and sustainability in heavy rail freight transport. Meanwhile, the first machine has been released:

VPS, Salzgitter AG’s logistics arm, has added two EuroDual hybrid locomotives to its fleet. They will primarily transport raw materials from Hamburg’s Hansaport and the eastern Harz region to Salzgitter Flachstahl’s steelworks. The EuroDuals improve VPS’s economic efficiency (+40% load) while reducing its CO2 footprint.

About Verkehrsbetriebe Peine-Salzgitter

VPS is a wholly-owned subsidiary of the Salzgitter Group and its central logistics service provider. With an annual transport volume of 43 million tonnes, VPS focuses on the following:
