[passenger] VIAS Rail wins 5-year contract to operate the new Emscher Express Network

VIAS Rail will operate the regional rail lines RE 3 and RE 41, forming the “Emscher Express Network,” from December 2026 to December 2030. The Verkehrsverbund Rhein-Ruhr (VRR) and Nahverkehr Westfalen-Lippe (NWL) awarding committees made this decision after a competitive bidding process:
