The company from Austria has at least 295 Vectron locomotives on order. According to our calculations, there are ±190 machines out (as of 23.02.2023). What happened so far:
- 2014-2019: We got used to a constant flow of new Vectron locomotives for lease company ELL. The Austrian company formed a fleet of around 150 machines in various configurations.
- 2020-2021: Deliveries slowed, and ELL’s fleet started to diversify with the arrival of the first Smartrons and Vectron Dual Modes. In 2020-2021: ELL only added pre-built Vectrons to its fleet: 193 485, 598, 599, 960, 961, 962. – The fleet became 158 machines strong.
- 2022: We added 16 Vectrons to ELL’s fleet. 118 001 for SE/NO, plus 193 919 DPM and multisystem 193 942-955. The number of Smatrons grew to five.
- 2023: We added 17 Vectrons to ELL’s fleet. 193 498-500, 507-508, 931-940, 956 and 965. The number of Smatrons grew to eight.
So it is time to start with a clean slate, moving on to 2024:

It was part of a small ceremony in May 2024; Siemens locomotive 193 680 was presented as ELL’s 222nd machine. It has small logos/number on one front:
