[design] SBB Cargo officially presents the livery of its first Vectron

It was only a matter of time before these two icons of modern rail in Switzerland came together. SBB Cargo’s blue and red finally meets the Siemens Vectron.

During the past year, Railcolor Design has been working on adjusting the design, known for its large white ‘cargo’ letters, to the shape of the Siemens locomotive. We created a friendly version of the SBB Cargo design with large black eyes and an open front. The ‘cargo’ no longer touches the frame and has moved slightly up, which required a new baseline to ground the text logo. Hence, the white line was added.

We thank Pat & Patachon for the perfect execution of print+application of the stickers and SBB Cargo for their trust.

SBB Cargo will take delivery of 35 such locomotives, which were ordered in 2022. The designated 193 051 is the first of its kind. Since the start of 2024, Siemens has already produced a dozen machines, which are being outshopped in plain red and blue and parked until their cosmetics are finalized. They represent a new subtype of the Vectron AC, B48, with only two pantographs and authorization for CH, DE, and AT.
