The main change is batteries instead of diesel. On 08.04.2024, the first Siemens Mireo+B battery trains entered passenger service at the Netz 8 / Ortenau network. The official start was celebrated by an exclusive inaugural trip from Offenburg to Oberkirch and back, accompanied by Winfried Hermann, Minister of Transport for Baden-Württemberg.
