In 2020, the night train returned to Belgium with the arrival of the new Brussels-Vienna service. Initially, tractive power for this service was mainly provided by Siemens-built SNCB HLE18 locomotives. However, due to them not being authorized for Germany and beyond, a locomotive change has always been necessary at Aachen (DE) until now.
