On 17 July 2023, ZVNL announced the outcome of the Mitteldeutschen S-Bahn Netz network tender, also known as MDSB2025plus. DB Regio won lot 1, Netinera lot 2. The latter took the opportunity to announce its intention of using Siemens Mireo trains on the concerned lines.
