Here it is! On 12.07.2023, the first complete Talgo ICE L for DB Fernverkehr arrived in Germany. We asked Alex Dworaczek from Railadventure about the destination of the train. He confirms it is on its way to Braunschweig. From there, the necessary test and approval runs will be organised in the coming months – sometimes with several units in parallel!
We see both Railadventure ES64U4 locomotives (183 500 and 190 311) in action:
DB Fernverkehr has 79 ICE L trains on order. They comprise 17 cars (including a driving trailer) and will get their own Class 105 multi-system locomotives made by Talgo. The first machines have been completed.
For lines without catenary, DB has ordered Siemens Vectron Dual Mode locomotives. The Talgo locomotives will enter service later, so the 17-car trains will initially run with lease Vectron locomotives.
