RheinCargo is already gaining experience with Siemens’ hybrid locomotive solution, the Vectron Dual Mode. The German operator relied on leased Dual Modes from Northrail, but now a direct order has been placed to Siemens for buying such locomotives. This is taking place as the RheinCargo’s Smartron fleet reaches eight locos.
