Polo Logistica, the logistics department of the Italian state railways (Gruppo FS), has announced a fleet rejuvenation plan with big numbers: hundreds of new locomotives and thousands of new freight cars. The main driver is the ambition to double the volume of railfreight transportation by 2030. The total investment is over EUR 2.5 billion.
