The Croatian state-owned railway company HZ Putnicki Prijevoz (HŽ PP) signed a contract with Koncar EV for the delivery of 21 electric trains.
Last week, Croatian state-owned railway company HZ Putnicki Prijevoz (HŽ PP) signed a contract for 21 electric trains with Croatian manufacturer Koncar EV for 845 million Croatian Kunas (€ 112 million). The trains are financed using EU funding (85%) and the state budget (15%). In May 2020, we already mentioned the tender for these trains.
Koncar will deliver:
- 11 trains for urban-suburban transport;
- 10 trains for regional transport.
The low-floor trains will enable speedy (un)boarding and are adapted to accommodate passengers with reduced mobility. There will be dedicated areas for bicycles or additional luggage. The trains will be equipped with a passenger information system, video surveillance, and WiFi.
The first train should be delivered by November 2022, the deadline for the full 21-train-order is December 2023. Koncar will start with the 11 urban-suburban units, followed by the 10 units for regional traffic.
