VIRM 2 and 3? VIRM stands for ‘Verlengd InterRegio Materieel’ (= extended interregional rolling stock) and is the type name for all double-deck EMUs of the Dutch railways, delivered between 1995 and 2009. Today, the Dutch railways (NS) officially launched the modernization of its subseries 2 and 3 – 45 double-deck EMUs in total.
