[EU / Expert] It is final: Akiem acquires Macquarie Rail – the new combined locomotive fleet

In February, the Akiem Group announced it will acquire Macquarie Europe Rail’s rolling stock leasing business. On 23.04.2020, the final contract was signed, which means that Akiem has added 137 locomotives, 30 EMUs, 16 DMUs, and 110 freight wagons to its portfolio. Now we take a closer look and explain what the transaction means for Akiem’s position in the European market, and how its fleet is developing. Let’s start with the electrics:
