In Poland, on the 15th of March, a first correction on the yearly timetable came into effect. It was also the day during which the first PKP Intercity trains were pulled by new EU160 series locomotives, a.k.a. the ‘Griffins’.
The first eight locomotives were delivered to PKP Intercity on March 2nd, 2020. A few days later the first authorization runs started on the routes to which the Griffins will be assigned, connecting Poznań, Bydgoszcz, Piła plus on the ‘Centralna Magistrala Kolejowa’ – the fastest railway line in Poland.
All EU160’s will be deliver before the end of 2020. The completes routes on which they will be used are:
