[ES / Expert] Bi-mode and narrow gauge: Stadler wins FGC freight loco tender

We reported last summer about Ferrocarrils de la Generalitat de Catalunya (Regional railways of Catalonia, FGC) launching a tender for five bi-mode metric gauge locomotives, to modernize and expand his potash freight services. On 02.12.2019 FGC selected Stadler Rail (Valencia) as the winner. But the Swiss manufacturer, offering a bi-modal version of its SALi design, was the sole candidate for the procurement.

However, there are interesting differences between what FGC wanted, and what Stadler Rail has offered. Let’s have a look at the technical details:
