In February 2018 Stadler signed the contract for the delivery of three diesel locomotives to Ferrocarril Central Andino, from Bolivia. They are of a new type, named SALi, specifically designed for Latin American (LATAM) markets. Now the locomotives have arrived in South America, testing is imminent.
A new milestone for Stadler: becoming the first European manufacturer to deliver locomotives to Bolivia, with an order valued at USD 17 million. The three yellow machines are the first new locomotives for the Bolivian railways in more than 40 years. The last newly delivered locomotives were Mitsubishi-Hitachi diesels from 1978!
