On 13.05.2019 Alstom announced it will be supplying five additional Coradia Polyvalent regional trains to Région Sud in France. Deliveries are expected to take place in stages between the end of 2020 and early 2021.
The French ‘Région Sud’ (also known as Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur or ‘Paca’) already owns a total of 10 Coradia Polyvalent for Régiolis, which entered service back in 2015. Now, in an effort to reinforce the exisiting fleet, the region and SNCF Mobilités have placed an order for five dual-mode (electric and diesel) Coradia Polyvalent BMUs in a ‘regional version’.
Valued at EUR 32 million approx., the trains will consist of 4 cars and have a capacity of 214 seats. Alstom states that the trains will feature:
- Seats equipped with individual reading lights and power sockets;
- Spaces for bicycles and luggage;
- Large bay windows;
- Noise and vibration reduction.
Earlier this month, the region of Bourgogne-Franche-Comté ordered the first six-car electric Coradia Polyvalent. Read more details about this order by visiting our dedicated article.
