Chinese rolling stock manufacturer CRRC has developed a platform for electric locomotives for the European market – TSI compliant – and available in different configurations for both passenger and freight transport.
The concept is named ‘Bison’ – although others also think the design looks like a shark. CRRC presents the locomotive in a 15+25kV AC base version with a 5.6 MW power rating and a top speed of 160 km/h. The Bison has four axles and has a maximum weight of 90 tonnes.
It is possible to develop a multi-system version of the Bison and also a ‘Last mile’ power module is available – with at least 350 kW output.
