[Design] New design: HaSeL the friendly shunter

As of April 15, 2025, G1206 locomotive 275 615 in the striking livery of HaSeL can be seen on the Dutch railway network. The locomotive numbered 1508, is leased from Northrail and immediately stands out thanks to its unique design, inspired by the shapes and patterns of a giraffe. The design was created in collaboration with Henk Zwoferink and Railcolor Design and applied by Fleetshield at the workshop of the Stoom Stichting Nederland.

About the operator

HSL Netherlands operates this locomotive and will primarily be active in the Port of Rotterdam, where it will play a key role in handling last-mile services. These services mainly involve transport to and from terminals that lack overhead electrification—an area in which HaSeL is particularly well suited. However, the locomotive is suitable for operations throughout the Netherlands and Germany due to its flexibility and robust performance.

With this eye-catching locomotive, HSL Netherlands underscores its commitment to efficient rail logistics and its focus on visual appeal and brand recognition on the tracks. The design contributes to a more vibrant and attractive image of rail freight transport.
