The locomotives type ‘6Dg’, ‘6Dl’, ’18D’ are the products of locomotive modernization projects by Newag. Their design is based on the classic ‘SM42’ diesel locomotive, produced by Fablok from Chrzanów [malopolskie voivodeship]. The SM42 was one of the most successful diesels used by both polish freight and passenger operators.
