Because the class 445s of DB Regio in Schleswig-Holstein (Nah.sh) are due for maintenance, the region does not have enough motorized end cars for its fleet of seventeen 4-car sets for the RE7/RE70 Kiel/Flensburg—Hamburg. Therefore, similar 445s from Brandenburg are helping out, which results in colourful combinations with the standard green trains and the alien red cars.
- Bombardier originally delivered 16 sets with motor cars 445 011-042;
- One extra set was ordered in 2017, also to compensate for delivery delays – motor cars are 445 103+104
- 445 013 no longer exists after a heavy accident at a level crossing and was scrapped.
